Downtown Huntsville features a red Japanese "friendship" bridge as well as Yoshino Cherry trees.
Both were gifts from Japanese Major General Mikio Kimata. Formally dedicated on May 3rd, 1977, the bridge
has been a mainstay in Big Spring Park, enduring multiple downtown transformations and a renovation of its own in 1998.
